Campus Crusade for Christ - The Campus Ministry

A good day! Thanks for praying.

Thks for praying….things turn today in a significant way. Folks were beat down, getting camp fever (wanting to do more personal ministry), etc.  But this morning, God gave us a better way to engage our Haitian partners in small group bible study–which went great.  We studied Acts 3 and Peter and John’s interaction with the lame man at the temple—the role of the gospel in “preaching, teaching and healing”.  We also put together a team of teaching and child development majors with one of our Haitian students (who had been a teacher).   That team begin a ministry to the school on the camp here and it looks like we’ll run an “English class” everyday next week.  We’ve begun the process of building “food and health packets” — to distribute next week in the IDP camps near by.  Our work projects got close to the finish line (wrap them up on Saturday).  We sent our first Jesus Film team out tonite….just got a text that things went great and they’re on their way back to camp.  Everyone is learning great practical construction, water purification, etc skills.  Erika, Kyle, etc are driving a small bobcat, for example. I even learned how to drive a forklift.  Saul put on a metal roof. Courtney is plumber extraordinare.  Darick fixes everything.  Caleb and Matt built the supports for the roof.  Chandler connects with children in a powerful way….little kids from the school keep yelling out “chan, chan”.  Cooper speaks Creole extremely well and helps us translate when the Haitian students aren’t here; he also helped put in the Culligan water system.  I could go on on on.  Everyone has been great.

Tomorrow we celebrate.  We’re headed to a beach resort with a SWIMMING POOL.  We’ve covering most of the Haitian students–since this place is very expensive for Haitian standards.  We need a good party tomorrow.  Pls pray that it goes great and that we get into lots of great conversations.

Tonight, we learned a new way to tell the Gospel story….using the story line of the Bible.  I’ll attach it in the next post for you to read.  It’s rough and still in process, but this kind of conversational sharing seems to work well.

Hearts are back in the trim.

Jay
