A Second Orphanage Visit

We took a different set of our students to the orphanage today. We brought coloring books, crayons, balloons, water colors, frisbees, and toy cars. The kids loved it and so did we. It’s hard to grasp their reality – that we saw their entire family.. right there in those pictures.. the two women caretakers. These kids do not ‘go home’ at night. That is their home. We were glad we visited. One of the girls was recently adopted by an American couple in Indiana.

This last picture shows the village girls drinking directly from the well that tested highly positive for E-coli and coliform bacteria. The photo from about a week ago showed at least 5 different bacteria species in the petri dish. That is their normal, everyday water source.
