Campus Crusade for Christ - The Campus Ministry

June 8- It’s about community

A friend sent me Henri Nouwen’s words about community–a good description of what’s going on here.

Community is a fellowship of people who do not hide their joys and sorrows, but make them visible to each other in a gesture of hope.  Life is full of gains and losses, joys and sorrows, ups and downs— but we do not have to live it alone (from Can You Drink this Cup, p 57)

After breakfast and fellowship, it’s off to work.  We need to finish some projects today, hopefully including the shower roof.  But first, some worship.

The photo below was taken from the back row of the weekly Campus Pour Christ – Haiti meeting. The man standing is named Robertson.  He is a graduate student about 34 years old. He was in the basement of a 4-story building that collapsed during the earthquake and survived by being near a stairwell and near the wall which allowed him to survive. He felt something dripping all over his head from above and thought a water pipe burst. When he got out to the street he realized it was the blood of the crushed people on the 4 floors above him dripping down through the rubble. He walked out to the street through a wall that broke wide open.. not the staircase.
