Sunday morning devotionals
Headed to church soon, here on our Camp Cambrun. Sunday school has already begun; 100s of children are singing near by. We’ll join the service at 8:15…several students are sharing their stories of discovering Christ…we’ve been practicing a song in Creole to sing (Because He Lives). Everyone’s hearts are very tender today…seeking the Lord, trying to figure out how to make a difference in the “broken places” of the world. Is having a “broken heart” personally the first step?
I’m reading a challenging book: Following Jesus Thru the Eye of the Needle: Living fully, loving dangerously. The author, Kent Annan, after living in Haiti reflected on Jesus’ question to the rich young man in Luke 18.
I feel like I’m being asked, “What are you willing to give up?”…. What does that mean in real life?
These days, whether living around the corner from a Burger King or living here in Haiti, where the nearest bacon double cheeseburger seems a million miles away, I think part of the answer is another pair of questions: What is in the way of my loving more? And what am I going to do now to starve this desire—-so I can hunger for something better?
We’ve got internet this weekend….and hope to have it permanently so students and staff can tell more of their experiences. Keep praying. Everyone is healthy….”hearts are in the trim”
