A Call to Prayer

Posted by National Campus Office :: 10:08 am

In times like these we desperately need God - we need God to meet with us, to comfort us, and to give us perspective. We need to look heavenward to the One who can give grace and pour out His mercy in our time of need.

In view of this, the leadership of Campus Crusade for Christ invites you to join together sometime this Thursday in a concerted gathering to call on God. Perhaps you could invite others in your community to join together with the staff, students, alumni, and laypeople throughout our country to call on the Lord to work in this very difficult situation.

I also think it would be an incredible testimony and blessing to the Virginia Tech community to know there has been such an outpouring of love demonstrated by prayer.

So if God is leading you to join us, would you mind leaving a comment to let us know that you are joining us in prayer? Would you let us know the location (city, state) you will be praying and leave an encouraging note for our Campus Crusade for Christ community at Virginia Tech?

Our family has been and will continue to pray for your community. We pray that God would comfort and protect, encourage and give hope to all. May God put Christian people in the paths of those who are not Christian and perhaps during this time of sadness unbelievers will come to know Jesus as their personal Savior and Lord while seeking him for strength and comfort.

We have been and will continue to pray for the families, the workers, God’s protection from copy cats, God’s light being shown on campus, and even for the family of the shooter. We pray that God will open the hearts of the people there to look to Him for answers and comfort. Thank you for all that you do for our Lord on that campus. I want to be there ministering with you. Please be His hands and feet of Good News, as I know you will.
    Praying with you -Amy

I am a Creative Memories Consultant. I teach people how to be their family historian. how to remember their lives with journaling and pictures. I facilitate a wonderful workshop called Faithbooking that teaches how to look for our God stories and then journal them. The bible uses the word remember 292 times. God wants us to remember how He has worked so awesomely in our lives and then pass them down to the next generation. Do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them slip from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and your children’s children.” Deut. 4:9 There are hundreds of God stories from this horrific tragedy, but God is good and He will triumph over evil when we call upon His mighty name.
Myself and 56 other ladies are going away for a weekend to scrapbook near Mooresville North Carolina. We are going to have a time of prayer on Sunday Morning at 8:30. We will be praying for the VT campus, the students, the teachers, for Campus Crusade leaders, for Jesus to be seen in the midst of these trials.

The Lord is my shepherd; I have everything I need. He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads me beside peaceful streams. He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths’ bringing honor to his name. Even when i walk through the dark valley of death, I will not be afraid for you Jesus are close beside me. Your rod your staff protect and comfort me.YOu prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies. You welcome me as a guest, anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings. Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever.

Father, YOU are everything we need. I pray that through YOUR people, YOU will be what the families, victims, and those affected need right now. Help us to show the world that YOU are the only answer to evil in the world. Help us through acts of kindness, compassion, and grace be YOUR light in this present darkness.

In the Name above all names,

    JESUS

My family and I will be praying tonight at 7:00 pm in concert with Laura and her fellow prayer partners at school. We give thanks to God for his goodness and know that He will use this tragedy for His higher purpose. God is using some tragic and yet amazing events (Columbine, 9/11, VA Tech, and others) these in these recent years to get our attention. We also thank God for the Supreme Court decision on the partial birth abortion ban. He is indeed a great god.

I will be praying for the students and families of VT, for God’s comfort and strength and healing. I’ll also be praying for local churches and campus ministries, for wisdom to minister and bring the gospel of Christ to those who are hurting. I pray that God’s love and grace will overcome the evil, and that many will come to know Him through this tragedy.

I will most definately continue to pray for those who have fallen, their families, as well as those who have survived this and who are dealing with this tragedy on a personal level. Prayer is a powerful thing!!! I am forwarding this on to all the prayer warriors I know. I’m sure it will be passed on from there as well. God bless!!!

As the events at Virginia Tech unfolded My mind was drawn to my daughter who is currently looking looking at colleges to attend in 2008. Because of where we are in that process it was very unsettling for me to realize that she could be at school and something like that could happen to her. The Holy Spirit reminded me of how God has promised in his Word to be with us and give us His peace in the midst of any “storm”. He is in us “to will and to work His good pleasure”. May God help us to be His witnesses to a world where His peace is needed at this tragic and opportune time. In Christ, Jim S.

I am praying God’s will be done and he be glorified through this evil. I pray lives would be changed and God would get full glory through what the evil one meant for evil only. God is good all the time and he will take this situation and turn for his glory. My prayer is for peace and strength and comfort for all of America and this would be a turning point for America Christians to see they need to not set back and be quiet while America goes down but would begin to take a stand for purity and morals and most of all God first and foremost in our country and especially the media and entertainment industries and see the filth on television through music, etc. which is filling our young and old peoples minds. We need to take a stand for Jesus and be Christ filled.
We set back and do not want to offend anyone but yet we see the outcome of setting back and doing nothing. To God be the glory.

My family, my friends and my church will join in prayer tonight (Thursday. We pray for the families and friends of those affected most deeply by this tragedy, that they will feel the comfort and peace of the Holy Spirit’s presence. We will pray also that those who will minister to the students at Virginia Tech and other universities will be filled with the wisdom and strength they need to bless the students.

From around the world, thousands, perhaps millions will join to raise their voices up to God calling on Him to bless those who hurt. His Word promises a response.

    Peace.
