A Call to Prayer
In times like these we desperately need God - we need God to meet with us, to comfort us, and to give us perspective. We need to look heavenward to the One who can give grace and pour out His mercy in our time of need.
In view of this, the leadership of Campus Crusade for Christ invites you to join together sometime this Thursday in a concerted gathering to call on God. Perhaps you could invite others in your community to join together with the staff, students, alumni, and laypeople throughout our country to call on the Lord to work in this very difficult situation.
I also think it would be an incredible testimony and blessing to the Virginia Tech community to know there has been such an outpouring of love demonstrated by prayer.
So if God is leading you to join us, would you mind leaving a comment to let us know that you are joining us in prayer? Would you let us know the location (city, state) you will be praying and leave an encouraging note for our Campus Crusade for Christ community at Virginia Tech?

We will be praying in Sterling Heights MI.

My wife Bunny and I will be encouraging our Community Bible Study group to lift up prayers for the students, families, faculty, and administration at Virginia Tech University. We are also meeting at Noon today with our 6:29 contemporary worship committee and we will request similar prayers from this group of Jesus’ followers.

In times like this we struggle to comprehend that there is a purpose for everything. We are reminded that though we don’t fully understand, we must trust in God’s promises and remember that God is in control. He has a purpose for everything and everyone. I lift my hands and my eyes to the Lord and pray that He provide comfort for ALL of us but most importantly to the families and friends most affected by this. God bless us all. My heart is heavy for the families of all the students and the family of the gunman. I can not begin to know the depth of their sorrow but I do know the depth of our Savior’s love and that it will sustain each and everyone of them. He is faithful, and will never leave nor forsake us…especially in this time of need. Praise God for all the lives that were spared! Know that in a small town outside of PA an e-mail is circulating to thousands and we ache for you and pray for you to be strenghthened and to find HIS PEACE. We will continue to raise you up in prayer. We stand with you in Spirit!! HIS daughter

In just a few minutes we will be gathering outside here at FamilyLife to have prayer for the family and friends of students who were killed. We are asking that they would find comfort and strength from the Lord. It is an honor to be able to come into the presence of the God of the universe on behalf of these hurting people. May God lift each one up in His holy hands giving His comfort and peace.

Here in Houston, Texas we have been holding prayer meeting praying for all of you in this trying time. Sometimes words are hard to come by in situations like this but keep the faith, God is with you, He will strengthen and keep you - remember the words of Paul, “And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and your minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:7! What the devil meant for bad, God meant it for our good.
Our Love and Prayers are with you always!

My son is an engineering student at VT. He is so proud of his school and the support that is happening there. Please know that you are being supported in prayer. If I could take away the heartache of this event, I would. Thank you for being there for the kids. Thank you for supporting even a kid like mine. A guy who may not necessarily walk into or seek out spititual support, but a guy who needs it. He is the typical college student who was active in youth group and understands the power of God. Rely on that power of God. Hold tight to your faith. Be strong in the lord. I know you are counting on us and we won’t let you down. Thank you. God Bless you. Romans 12:12

I pray that God will use this horrible tragedy to bring people to Himself just as He did with the death of his Son. I pray that He will lift up those to minister to sick, lonely individuals like Cho. As a parent and grandparent, I can imagine the grief and sorrow felt at this time by the families of these dear souls and by the parents of this tortured young man that caused all this grief.

Our hearts are joined with yours in prayer, dear ones. May the LORD be your Strong Tower and your Shield from the evil one, as he will surely move against this uprising of God’s army, as you battle for Him on your knees. May Our Great Physician be the answer for those whose hearts have been torn apart by this evil; and as He brings healing, may those who have not known Him in a personal way, be drawn to His Loving arms. May He fill you with hope and a peace that onyl He can give. And may His Name be lifted up on the campus of VA Tech, and this tragedy become the catalyst for tremendous spiritual growth among the body of believers there. I am privileged to join the thousands who are lifting all of you before the throne of grace. God bless you, and make you a blessing.

I have been praying since I heard about thi horrific tragedy. I will continue to pray for all the people involved. I pray for comfort and God’s grace to be poured out to all the victims families, friends, and those still injured and in the hospital. I pray for the survivors. That they will turn to God for comfort and strength and that God will help them as they try to move on with their lives. I plan to ask my co-workers to join me in this call to prayer for VT today. I will continue to pray for all the ministers and staff as they try to counsel all the hurting students. May God give them wisdom. Let’s turn our hearts and eyes to God and He will help us overcome this evil with good. Angie B.- Spindale, NC

Praying that all of you will truly experience God’s presence…and that his presence with you will be your strength, comfort, peace, & even joy in the midst of such pain. Praying that as you allow the Lord to minister to you that you will be used to minister his touch to others.

Since this tragedy has occurred I have prayed for the families of those who have lost their loved ones, for those who have children who are students there who are enduring unspeakable horror and grief, for the staff and administration of this university who have lost so much. I must admit that while I pray I am at a loss for words and yet I find myself asking for God’s comfort, peace, mercy, grace and healing. It is so hard to comprehend evil, easy to blame the availability of guns, etc., rather than seeing how evil the human heart is without the redemptive work of Jesus Christ; how evil my heart would be if not for Jesus.
You all will continue to be in my prayers. May the God of all comfort and peace be our comfort and peace. Amen.

I am praying for the students, faculty, families, and everyone in your community. God grant you the courage to endure and overcome.

Its hard to find words to express our sorrow over what has happened in Virginia. So rather than struggle in a human way, we can only say that you will all be in our hearts and prayers and then allow God to move his spirit amongst you as only He can. The Lord will always find a way to bring good out of evil and we must put our trust in Him alone.

We have been and will continue to pray for the families, the workers, God’s protection from copy cats, God’s light being shown on campus, and even for the family of the shooter. We pray that God will open the hearts of the people there to look to Him for answers and comfort. Thank you for all that you do for our Lord on that campus. I want to be there ministering with you. Please be His hands and feet of Good News, as I know you will.
