A Call to Prayer

Posted by National Campus Office :: 10:08 am

In times like these we desperately need God - we need God to meet with us, to comfort us, and to give us perspective. We need to look heavenward to the One who can give grace and pour out His mercy in our time of need.

In view of this, the leadership of Campus Crusade for Christ invites you to join together sometime this Thursday in a concerted gathering to call on God. Perhaps you could invite others in your community to join together with the staff, students, alumni, and laypeople throughout our country to call on the Lord to work in this very difficult situation.

I also think it would be an incredible testimony and blessing to the Virginia Tech community to know there has been such an outpouring of love demonstrated by prayer.

So if God is leading you to join us, would you mind leaving a comment to let us know that you are joining us in prayer? Would you let us know the location (city, state) you will be praying and leave an encouraging note for our Campus Crusade for Christ community at Virginia Tech?

Our Prayer is for the many who are experiencing untold grief over the horrific loss of a loved one.
We also are remembering the many who survived and will have PTSD. We pray for the servants of Lord in place right now to have wisdom and words of comfort and direction as they step to the plate in a way they never expected. We also pray for the family of the perpetrator of this violence that they will find refuge in The Prince of Peace. Our God answers prayer! Our hearts and prayers are being lifted to the throne of Grace.

My pray is for all persons that has been affected by this tragedy. Every storm has a beautiful rainbow
that follows; even though I am not sure what God’s plan is and it is not for us to know but just
have faith and believe in him. We all share with you; your pain, sorrow, and grief as these days will heal with the grace of God. I send prayers from a family who is surviving the impact of Hurricane Katrina.

I am one of many who have been touched by this tragedy. I am praying that God will use this to remind many people of the brevity of life and that our only hope and security in this world is in Jesus. May God use this powerfully as people who don’t know him personally experience the love and compassion shown by those who DO know Him.

We will be praying at our Moms in Touch group this morning in Colleyville, Texas, and many of us will pray this evening as well, for all who have been impacted by this tragedy. We lift each of you up to Him, who even in times of evil is omnipotent and omnipresent. We pray He would rain down His comfort, His peace, His wisdom and His love. And we pray that each of you would feel His presence in a very real way and would grow even nearer to Him. What was meant for evil God will use for good. Genesis 50:20. -Moms in Touch, Colleyville, Texas

Our Bible Study Group will be praying tonight in Clear Lake, Wis.!

“Do not fret because of evil men or be envious of those who do wrong…Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him and He will do this: He will make your righteousness shine like the the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun. Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him; do not fret when men succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes. Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret - it leads only to evil….The Lord delights in the way of the man whose steps he has made firm; though he stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his hand….” Read more in Psalm 37.

WE are lifting all those effected by this tragedy at VT in our thoughts and prayers. Today and in the months to come. I pray that you find peace and healing through the love and grace of our Lord. If your heartache is so deep and the hardship so difficult that you find it almost impossible to stand, we pray that God will be with you to help you walk steadily, keep your eyes fixed firmly on HIM, your spirits attunded to HIS presence and minds trusting on HIS promises to walk with you through this dark valley. When we are experiencing pain so deep that we cannot find the words to speak to God, know that others are speaking to God on your behalf and the Holy Spirit intervenes, so your unspoken words are heard.

At choir rehearsal last night, we had a real burden to pray for Virginia Tech and the community, our nation and world’s response to this tragedy. After singing “You Are God Alone” we had a spontaneous time of worship and intercession for all involved. The news of the V-Tech tragedy touches the world, and we asked the Spirit to draw all people to Christ’s gift of salvation, comfort and hope. We’ll be joining you all in prayer tonight during our orchestra rehearsal! In the good times and bad, God is on His throne. He is God alone!

On behalf of myself and my entire college age small group, our love and prayers go out to you. My co-leader and I have decided to cancel our scheduled discussion tonight in order to focus on prayer for your campus community and to bring whatever comfort possible to our guys that are feeling the ripple effect of this weeks incident. We love you guys, though we’ve never met, you are our brothers and sisters and we are standing by you in the strength and comfort of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. I pray that in the days of acceptance to come, that His presence is felt; in the months of healing to come, that His comfort is known; and in the years of recovery ahead, that His strength empowers each one of you. Our hearts are broken for VT. - Collegeville, Pa

In Psalms 20 we are comforted in God,in knowing that God hears us when we are in distress…He offers protection…He sends help and support from Zion. It is in the name of the Lord God our trust rests. May our brothers and sisters in Va Tech continue to trust in His name…may they trust and receive His provisions for them as they experience Him in this season of their lives. As well, may they glorify Him as they let their light shine before men (Matthew 5:16).
