A Call to Prayer
In times like these we desperately need God - we need God to meet with us, to comfort us, and to give us perspective. We need to look heavenward to the One who can give grace and pour out His mercy in our time of need.
In view of this, the leadership of Campus Crusade for Christ invites you to join together sometime this Thursday in a concerted gathering to call on God. Perhaps you could invite others in your community to join together with the staff, students, alumni, and laypeople throughout our country to call on the Lord to work in this very difficult situation.
I also think it would be an incredible testimony and blessing to the Virginia Tech community to know there has been such an outpouring of love demonstrated by prayer.
So if God is leading you to join us, would you mind leaving a comment to let us know that you are joining us in prayer? Would you let us know the location (city, state) you will be praying and leave an encouraging note for our Campus Crusade for Christ community at Virginia Tech?

My husband and I send prayers and our thoughts out to all the families and friends of this tragic incendent.
May God be with them all.
God bless them all and may they rest in peace in his loving arms.
Their families and friends will miss them dearly.

From Clayton, NC Only God — and those who minister in His name — can comfort those who are grieving so much for the loss of friends and family and a sense of safety. My prayer will be that His peace and comfort will be felt by all those who call on His name at this time of tragedy and that they will continue to turn to Him in the future as well. I will send this to my prayer warrior friends as well. Campus Crusade for Christ was a major part of our daughter’s life when she was at Syracuse University 1991-1995 and we will keep all of you particularly in our prayers — students and advisors alike.

This tragedy happened not becouse the victims are more sinners than us .but we have to use this time to test our selfs and repent, for a true repentance brings a true healing.

Right now, I am going to prayer, before the throne of Almighty God, on behalf of Va. Tech and all concerned. My heart is broken. God allows these unexpected tragedies for His good purposes, and He brings beauty out of ashes. Hallelujah !!!!! Amen.

Absolutely we plan to join you and will be lifting in prayer all those affected, our hearts and minds are joined with those suffering. As I was driving my daughter to school this morning I heard this broadcast, so when I returned home I forwarded this on to friends and co-workers. I would like to encourage all to let the positive power of prayer dominate the media coverage!!!

Dear Staff at Crusade,
My daughter, Elizabeth, attends Virginia Tech and belongs to Campus Crusade. Elizabeth arrived home last night and is convinced that God is going to bring amazing things out of this horrible tragedy. Our church has invited the community to gather tonight to pray for VA Tech from 7-8, in California, Maryland.
We have been and will continue to pray for all of you as you minister to the students. God will give you the words and strength to carry out His plan.
Only Because of Jesus,
Pam Fahrner

We will be praying for you here in NW Arkansas with our community, at an appointed time today…as well as daily. I pray for great healing for the victoms family and friends as well as for the students and staff and thier families. I pray that we would look to heaven and seek God. The only way thru something like this, is to look to Jesus, and not turn from Him…(that is what the enemy wants).
Our hearts and prayers are with all of you.
With love,
Shannon

My heart breaks for these families and friends that have been touched by this horrible tragedy. I pray the Lord will touch each one with His healing hand of love, comfort, and peace. I pray that each of us will draw closer to Him and be reminded of His promise to heal the brokenhearted as only He can. As we stand together in faith, we know He has a plan, and that many will be drawn to Him even in this tragedy. In Jesus Name I pray…Amen.

My heart goes out to all the families of students and staff as well as the friends of the families that have been touched by this. This does not exclude the Law Enforcement Officers and Medical Staff Team that are dealing with the loss. Just a reminder, God has not forsaken you and will help carry you through the tough days ahead and give you strength. He has made a promise and will see you through this. I will continue to pray for all of you in the days ahead.
Comforting you from Texas

You are all in my thoughts and prayers, I can’t imagine what you are all going through. I work in the school system of South Haven, and I hope this never happens here.
I only pray that they take you out of the news, so you can start to heal, and get your lives back. I have a niece in College and I think of her offen, that this doesn’t happen at her school.
GOD BE WITH YOU ALL. GOD BLESS AMERICA!

We will be praying for you here in NW Arkansas, tonight as we join with others in our community at a appointed time, as well as on our own, on a daily basis. Our hearts go our to the victioms families and friends as well as the entire student body and staff, and their families.
We will be praying for healing in a great way. Satan is working in a furious way all around us, I pray that we would all turn to our Lord, Jesus Christ, and not away from him…(that is what the enemy wants!) Look to heaven, seek God, He is the only way through something like this.
Our hearts and prayers are with you all!

Dear Family & Friends of Virginia Tech,
I attended VA Tech in the mid-80s, so I felt compelled to comment. I can remember what a pleasant and beautiful campus it was. OK, the drill field did smell like cow manure when it rained, but that became familiar, even welcome. But, wow, this violence you’ve experienced is not familiar or welcome.
I am praying that God will comfort you through the pain, grief and horror of this tragedy. And, I am praying that from this tragedy will come redemption. I pray all those involved and touched by this tragedy will recognize the brevity of life AND recognize our need for Jesus Christ. And, if you already know Jesus as your Savior and Lord, then share the blessed hope of salvation with others. Love your one loved ones and one another and reach out to others who are hurting or in need.
In Christ’s Love,
Susan Haksch Straka
Seattle, WA

Thank you very much for sharing this call for unified prayer. I can’t think of a more powerful way to uphold the students, faculty, staff and parents of students at Virginia Tech. I would also encourage us to pray for protection against copycat acts as Friday marks the anniversary of the horrific Columbine shootings, a time in the past when repeat acts have occurred. Thank you again, I will be in prayer throughout this day and will forward the note from Focus on the Family to our Christian faculty.

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
I and my family will be praying for all those involved, and their families, in the Virginia Tech tragedy. We will and are believing for God to do an awesome work in this situation for His glory! What the devil tries to intend for evil, God will work it out for the good for his glory!! “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he will direct thy paths.” (Proverbs 3:5-6) Be encouraged and walk in the power of Christ and the Holy Spirit!

My heart has gone out to you all week in prayer for courage and comfort during this most difficult time. The Lord has led me to II Timothy 3 to make sense out of the good and evil conflict. I have invited Christian and non Christian neighbors over tonight to talk about these things. I intend to include prayer for all you precious ones there at VT. To Him be the glory. Christy Sellers
