A Call to Prayer
In times like these we desperately need God - we need God to meet with us, to comfort us, and to give us perspective. We need to look heavenward to the One who can give grace and pour out His mercy in our time of need.
In view of this, the leadership of Campus Crusade for Christ invites you to join together sometime this Thursday in a concerted gathering to call on God. Perhaps you could invite others in your community to join together with the staff, students, alumni, and laypeople throughout our country to call on the Lord to work in this very difficult situation.
I also think it would be an incredible testimony and blessing to the Virginia Tech community to know there has been such an outpouring of love demonstrated by prayer.
So if God is leading you to join us, would you mind leaving a comment to let us know that you are joining us in prayer? Would you let us know the location (city, state) you will be praying and leave an encouraging note for our Campus Crusade for Christ community at Virginia Tech?

My thoughts and prayers continue to be those who lost loved ones in this terrible tragedy!

I am praying with you and for you today at my home. I pray that God will comfort all those affected by this tragedy with a peace that surpasses all understanding. I pray that everything that was meant for evil, will work together for good and that those who do not know Jesus will be drawn to His side through this. I pray for revival on this campus, and on all school campuses.I pray that the nation as a whole will break into revival and seek God’s face.

We are sending this call to prayer around the world. I am so grateful for Va Tech–it is where my husband and I found Christ 35 years ago through the ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ. We have been serving on the staff of Northport Baptist Church here on Long Island, and know first hand the on-going devastating effects of trauma as we continue to see lives ripped apart as a result of 9-11. Everyone needs God’s help at this time. It CAN be a turning point. We are so gratified to see the Christians on campus rising up and lifting up the standard of Christ. He truly is the only answer.

Could this be the SPARK to bring about the Great Awakening that Bill Bright fasted/interceded for all those years? Perhaps we should add this to the fervent prayers now going up on the heels of the Virginia Tech tragedy this week!

We as a campus family will be gathering this Thursday evening during our student worship time for prayer and reflection for the families and students at Virginia Tech. We are praying specifically for the Christian groups and students on the campus of Virginia Tech that they will have courage and clarity as they communicate the love of Jesus Christ to many hurting people.

The righteous cry out and the Lord hears them; He delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. A righteous man may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all.
Psalm 34:17-19a
Many cried out to the Lord when we lost our son last year, and He proved to be our Comforter and the healer of our brokenhearts.
We count it a great privilege to join in prayer from New Jersey for all those who are grieving now.
