A Call to Prayer
In times like these we desperately need God - we need God to meet with us, to comfort us, and to give us perspective. We need to look heavenward to the One who can give grace and pour out His mercy in our time of need.
In view of this, the leadership of Campus Crusade for Christ invites you to join together sometime this Thursday in a concerted gathering to call on God. Perhaps you could invite others in your community to join together with the staff, students, alumni, and laypeople throughout our country to call on the Lord to work in this very difficult situation.
I also think it would be an incredible testimony and blessing to the Virginia Tech community to know there has been such an outpouring of love demonstrated by prayer.
So if God is leading you to join us, would you mind leaving a comment to let us know that you are joining us in prayer? Would you let us know the location (city, state) you will be praying and leave an encouraging note for our Campus Crusade for Christ community at Virginia Tech?

My family in Bellflower, California are all praying that God’s Holy Spirit will comfort you and give you peace knowing that greater is He that is in us then he that is in the world.

I join my prayers with the prayers of our nation and the world and implore God’s grace and mercy upon all those killed and injured, their families and friends. For their hearts to be filled with the peace of God’s love and not hate and anger or revenge. I pray that God bring good out of this evil. As we lift our hearts to Him.. let us all thank Him for the gift of life so precious. I pray also for Cho, a sick young man who in his miserable dark mind had not one single ray of hope and acted in anger and hate. Let us pray that others like him with sick minds and hearts never lack the love, attention and care they need for their healing, for this I pray…in the holy name of Jesus.

To the students and faculty at Virginia Tech know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. I was hesitant to arise from my rest this morning…perhaps the overshadowing of Monday’s tragedy urged me to pull the covers over my head and stay safe…yet I did arise. Upon receiving the email from American Family for a call to pray I was lead to pray for you using a prayer from the New Church Book of Worship, “O Lord, our Heavenly Father, who orders all things for our eternal good, mercifully enlightened our minds, and give us a firm and abiding trust in thy love and care. Silence our murmurings, quiet our fears, and dispel our doubts, that arising above our afflictions and our anxieties, we may rest on Thee, the Rock of everlasting strength.” I thank God in advance for his steadfast love and mercy. Let us rest in his presence for He is our Rock and our salvation.

My husband Shane and I, and our families are praying with you! My husband and I met while we were at Virginia Tech 9 years ago and both of my younger sisters graduated from VT as well. We all attended New Life Campus Fellowship while at VT and still have friends there who are praying as well. VT is near and dear to us and we pray that comfort will be felt by the families and terrified students and that many more people would come to Christ through this tragedy, thanks to the campus ministries and worldwide prayer! In Jesus’ name, Amen.

In times like these it is important to remember the mighty power of prayer. I am so encouraged to hear that we as believers in Christ are rallying together to cry out to the Lord. We know that He will hear our prayers and I excited to see how He will use us. I will be praying tonight at work and I have spread the word to my friends and family.

We hurt and grieve for all of you in this unexplainable tragedy. We plead with God to surround each of you with his felt presence, support, and strength to cope. We are personally removed from and do not know most of you, but we love you all none the less, our brothers and sisters in Christ.

North Oak Community Church in Hays, Kansas will be gathering tonight (Thursday) at 7:00pm to pray for Virginia Tech. Words cannot express the feelings I have right now. They are similar to those I had after the Amish massacre at Nickel Mines, PA recently. The world is in need of a Savior. That Savior is Jesus Christ and only when we accept Him into our hearts can we know comfort, peace and joy even in the midst of tragedy. I will be praying for the students, the families, the injured, the faculty and the outreach workers in the days that lie ahead. God bless you all.

My husband and I have received an answer to a prayer today that was completely and utterly out of our control. We have been praising God all day! God moves in quiet and powerful ways! I pray that He will move in a powerful way and that He alone will be glorified through this tragedy! He has promised to never leave or forsake us. We can all rest assured in His love and grace!
Praying with you and serving an awesome God in Clinton, TN!

I am in prayer daily for the victims, family members and Virginia Tech students and staff. As an educator and parent, it is impossible for me to imagine what everyone involved is feeling and experiencing at this point, but I do that the Lord Jesus Christ is sufficient to meet our needs if we will rely on Him. Please know that we will continue to pray for you all.-Suzanne in Mississippi

It’s amazing to me how much support and prayers are coming in from all over the world over this tragedy. Me and a few of my friends go walking every night, so we are going to pause for a moment to say a special prayer for the victims and there families…my heart goes out to these families…I know what it’s like to loose someone you love so close to you!
My prayer is that they will know how much they are being held up by God and his followers! Thanks to all of the believers who are taking a stand and doing something for the families who lost a loved one!

Words seldom elude me,however at this moment I don’t know what to say. May God’s love, grace and peace cover the staff working with these families and students and may these families and students feel the strength and love of the prayers pouring out for them today.

The only remedy for evil is the power of God’s grace.
I have passed on this call for prayer tonight to my fellow members of Marlborough Friends Meeting in PA and other’s in my own Christian circle.
What keeps coming to mind as I pray and seek God in this is ‘What man has meant for evil, God will work for good’
