A Call to Prayer

Posted by National Campus Office :: 10:08 am

In times like these we desperately need God - we need God to meet with us, to comfort us, and to give us perspective. We need to look heavenward to the One who can give grace and pour out His mercy in our time of need.

In view of this, the leadership of Campus Crusade for Christ invites you to join together sometime this Thursday in a concerted gathering to call on God. Perhaps you could invite others in your community to join together with the staff, students, alumni, and laypeople throughout our country to call on the Lord to work in this very difficult situation.

I also think it would be an incredible testimony and blessing to the Virginia Tech community to know there has been such an outpouring of love demonstrated by prayer.

So if God is leading you to join us, would you mind leaving a comment to let us know that you are joining us in prayer? Would you let us know the location (city, state) you will be praying and leave an encouraging note for our Campus Crusade for Christ community at Virginia Tech?

We put the request thru our church phone tree requesting our members to stop what they were doing at 7 PM tonight and pray for all of you associated with Virginia Tech. Also some of us came up to our church and held a prayer service at 7 PM. Good can come out of such a tragic event. We’ll keep on praying for all of you.

Whilst New Zealand is on the other side of the world, we are feeling the impact of your tragedy. We pray that university students around the world will stop and take stock of their lives and see how Christ makes a difference. Virginia Tech Cru staff and students are being a beacon of light around the world in the midst of great personal tragedy. Well done and to God be the glory!

had not received this until tonight, but a friend & I had spent an hour in prayer this morning, as we do every Thursday.
I respectfully suggest that you omitted one vital prayer need - the family and loved ones of the shooter. They are undoubtedly sufferring unbelievable pain not only in their loss, but the shame and sorrow for his actions. Having lost three closest friends & our favorite teacher in a hotel fire when we were seniors in high school in 1946 I do have some knowledge and background for empathizing. I can assure you that God is still on duty. Always has been, always wull be, and He WILL give you comfort & peace if you allow Him to. p

I heard the news on 89.7 and also read it online…I will have my family of 4 join in this prayer tonight @ 11:00pm on thursday 4/19 at our home so our loving God will strengthen those who were affected. God is in control even when it does not seem like it. I am very proud of Laura for taking that huge step and having a father to encourage with spiritual words. God Bless

After discussions at work today, we came to the conclusion that without having the teachings of right and wrong in our schools; which are found in the Bible and in Prayers, the people in our schools are taught by liberal teachers who, in justifying their views on our children, we end up with the events of Columbine and Virginia Tech to sensationalize the news for profit, and not teach the Good News found in the Bible for our salvation and life eternal through the adherence to the Ten Commandments, the foundation for the Constitutional Law in the United States. This is evident by the doors in the Capital building in Washington D.C., where Moses is holding the Ten Commandments in his hands. It is the liberal judges in this country, along with lawyers, who want to destroy the moral fabric which has made this nation great in the decades and centuries of its past. We need to return to this morality not allow it to decay by allowing the immoral to be aloud and moral fiber of the country to be destroyed by those who wish to justify their evil ways and their quest for evil power as demonstrated by this very tragic event at Virginia Tech. If we learn anything from this, let us learn that if one is taught right from wrong and not that wrong is acceptable, that these events would not become more prolific in todays society. It is time to make a stand for the good in the world not turn the other way when people promote the evils of the world and not the power of the Holy Spirit which is in each one of us, if we only receive it and use it for the betterment of mankind not the destruction of mankind by such evil acts by those who have not been taught right from wrong and who do not know the truth and what is right as can be found in the Bible. My prayers go out to the people on the campus of Virginia Tech and we all know that through God’s Grace we can be comforted in such times of grief and sorrow. Let us learn the right way to be righteous and overcome the evils in our society. In God we Pray, Peace Be with You. It is certainly tragic, that it takes an event like this to allow prayer at school.

Isa 40:31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

The word “renew” means to Change ….The Promise of God is as we wait upon Him He’ll change our strength from natural strength to super natural strength. from our strength to His stength
The only place to find rest from the storm is in His strength. The only place to find comfort is in His strength.

    Psa 34:4-5
I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.
They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed. (disappointed)

    VT
You are in our hearts and prayers.

    In His Grace

Our thoughts and prayers are with all who died in this horrible tragedy and with their families and friends. I am a parent of 2 and can not even fathom the thought. Our prayers are with those who survived and will have to deal with the thoughts and nightmares of this for the rest of their lives. May God wrap his loving and comforting arms around all of you and give you peace in the midst of the storm. Just know that people all over the country are praying for all of you.
