A Call to Prayer

Posted by National Campus Office :: 10:08 am

In times like these we desperately need God - we need God to meet with us, to comfort us, and to give us perspective. We need to look heavenward to the One who can give grace and pour out His mercy in our time of need.

In view of this, the leadership of Campus Crusade for Christ invites you to join together sometime this Thursday in a concerted gathering to call on God. Perhaps you could invite others in your community to join together with the staff, students, alumni, and laypeople throughout our country to call on the Lord to work in this very difficult situation.

I also think it would be an incredible testimony and blessing to the Virginia Tech community to know there has been such an outpouring of love demonstrated by prayer.

So if God is leading you to join us, would you mind leaving a comment to let us know that you are joining us in prayer? Would you let us know the location (city, state) you will be praying and leave an encouraging note for our Campus Crusade for Christ community at Virginia Tech?

I’ll be praying for you in Cedar Park, TX.

May the Lord strengthen you, comfort and build you up in your inner man that you may comfort others with God’s comfort. May He sustain you and lift you. May you sense His presence and power, relying on His strength in your weakness. May He bring many to Christ through this, bringing goodness and glory to His name out of this. May He reveal Himself to you all, that you may know Him more deeply through this.

We are all mourning with you. May His love enfold you.

    Love in Christ,

Lancaster PA knows all too well the tragedy of lives taken before their time and there is a deep forgiveness through a mighty God. One prayer seems so inadequate, but one prayer to a powerful God CAN and DOES change lives forever. All things happen for a purpose, we must believe that and if for only one person to find Him through this, it was worth all the pain and sorrow. God is working, God is here and He hears, and sees every last tear and heart that is broken from this situation. I am praying for all the families and especially for the Mom and Dad of the shooter because they need to know how much God truly does love them and cares for them… this is a tragedy but out of that comes triumph to be better, to love more and most importantly to care about other individuals who may have the same hurt inside and will now take the time to be a true friend.

My heart is broken for all of you please know we are praying for you all in Lancaster, PA.

I have been praying for the students, family, and friends of those at Virginia Tech since hearing of the shooting but did not know much of the details. Just praying that God would comfort and surround you all with his Spirit. My family is a part of CYT (Christian Youth Theater) in the Chicago area (DuPage County) and we will be praying for you all especially tomorrow…but we won’t stop praying. Grieving is such a long process and it will be intense for quite awhile. My heart is weeping with you all. We send our love and our prayers. You are there for a reason but I am very sorry for all of the pain and loss.

A memorial service is scheduled on the Penn State University Park campus tomorrow, Thursday 4-19, to remember all of the victims and their families, those who died or were wounded, and the family of the gunman.
